Romanian Ministries Update

Monday, November 18th, 2019

Dear Philippian Fellowship,

50 YEARS OLD!  How in the world did that happen???  As I sit here and reflect on the thought that I just turned 50 years old yesterday, and to think that half of those 50 have been spent here in Romania, I am overwhelmed by the love and encouragement that so many have been to us to allow us the privilege to serve the Lord here for that length of time.  God continues to guide us and direct our steps.

We are very thankful for your faithful prayers and support in August and September. We had the privilege to host approximately 1,000 people at Camp Eli this summer, and over 100 accepted Christ as Savior.  Thanks again for your investment!

I was able to travel to the states for a short time in September to take Zach and Ionut to the Word of Life Bible Institute in Hudson, FL.  What a joy to visit with a few friends and supporting churches during this brief visit!  They are doing well and adjusting to life in America.  They are living with my parents (Ziemers) and keeping them on their toes I am sure!  Notice their two pictures taken a couple years apart!!!

The Sunday before I left, I had the opportunity to baptize Vali and Madalin.  Vali got saved within the last couple years and has been very encouraged by the others in our young families small group to follow Christ!  We led Madalin’s parents to Christ a few years ago, and he has grown up in our church.  Upon returning from the states we baptized Dary, Traian, Gina, and Flory.  Dary is from Fundulea and was raised by his grandparents.  He was part of our children and youth programs growing up but had strayed far from the Lord.  God used some extremely difficult physical ailments to get ahold of him this year.  His wife Valentina is now in our new believer’s class preparing for baptism.  Traian and Gina accepted Christ earlier this year, and along with their niece Flory, are from our church plant in Florica.  They have been a huge source of encouragement for brother Lucian and the team that is ministering in this town and neighboring villages!

October 5 also brought the arrival of our first grandson into the world.  Joshua Matthew Ziemer made his arrival and we praise the Lord for a healthy baby and a safe delivery.  Alina and Joshua are doing great, it is awesome to watch Michael as a father to his young son!  We are planning furlough this winter, so it will be hard to be apart as he makes those first little growth spurts!  We will be greatly anticipating May 22 to see them again, as they are remaining here in Romania.

We are planning a trip to South Africa in November as I have been asked to speak at the Word of Life summer camp there for children and teens.  Obviously, it will delight our hearts to minister alongside Corina, but also the directors there, John and Christy Page.  They are great friends from college, and I was actually in their wedding years ago!

Mid December we return to the states for five months and look forward to time with family, friends, and faithful partners in the ministry.  Pray with us also as we once again need to make some new contacts to raise our support level to the needed amount.  God continues to expand the ministry and along with this comes the need for new resources.  He has been faithful for 25 years, and I believe will remain faithful!

Hello my dear friend,

“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish ” Jeremiah 31:25

My soul finds rest in the promises of our Lord! Isn’t that great  that God’s presence saturate the needs of our souls? In Him alone we find the peace that passes understanding and the strength to do His will.

Can you believe that summer is almost gone? We had the privilege to serve In 4 camps this summer ( 3 kids camp and one with teenagers). Here camps are maybe a little different than what you do! We have Unsaved kids from unsaved families and most of them uneducated. As the old song says we are more of a sermon in shoes, doing our best to love them in the best way, teach them the word of God and play as much as we can with the kids! Our prayer is that God reveals Himself to the kids, that the kids will remember the Christian way of living they’ve seen in us and will desire the same for themselves. To hate the sinful living they see in their families and to desire God!

Teenagers camp is a little more different. Most of them are from our church but as we all know this season of their life can be very challenging. My encouragement for them, as I spoke every evening was that we find ourselves in a spiritual war, and we are soldiers that need to train every day in becoming more like our Lord Jesus. One lesson that I love the most was about remembering God’s promises, but first of all this implies to know them, to have them memorized. I know it’s a struggle and a challenge, but it’s part of our training and a great road to success in our daily walk.

Our family is doing well, baby Flavian is getting so big already! Abel got to go for a week in Greece for a Bible competition! We are very pleased with his hard work and praise God for the mind is given to him. Alex will be first grade this year and I hope he is still excited about it 🙂 ! Unfortunately we will start the homeschool year a month later, as the new home is not ready to move in! This is a very important issue for us so could you please pray with us for this issue? We still need to work on the heating system, cesspool, the entrance doors, etc. But as I said in the beginning of this letter our souls rest on his promises and one of His promises is that will take care of our needs as long as we stay in His will.

Thank you all for your donations and support in prayer, and the short notes that we receive from you. May the Lord richly bless you and provide for all your needs.

We love and appreciate you so much!!!

Dear Jeff and Rebecca,

It has been a while since you didn’t hear from us and I apologize. To sit down in front of a computer and write, is very hard for me because I am all the time on the road. When I get home at night I have to spend time with the kids, then to put them to sleep and I am out most of the time before them :o). I’m not trying to find excuses, I know that  I am guilty and that I need to get more responsible. Please pray for me in this.
I want to thank you for being a blessing to us. You cannot imagine how much it means just to know that there is someone out there that prays for us and for our ministry here in Romania. Send our love and greetings to everyone in your prayer group and to everyone that prays for us and helps us financially from your church. We do pray for you and for the church in Waldoboro. Thank you for your donations for the house as well and for being a tool in Gods hands to reach and bless others overseas.
God has been good to us for keeping our kids healthy and safe through out the day in all the crazy things that they do, and for giving strength and wisdom to my wife Ana with the school and taking care of the house, she is a real help and blessing.
A thought that I have started this year with is found in Isaiah 55:8-9.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

My thoughts are not God’s thoughts, and my ways are not His ways most of the time. Even though I am involved in ministry most of my time, I can be out of His ways and not having His thoughts. I really need to get to KNOW Him more every day to get to know His thoughts and to be filled with His Spirit, because He is the One that knows the deepest thoughts of God as Paul says in Corinthians. This in my prayer now, to empty my mind of my thoughts every morning, the thoughts of a dead man (because I died and Christ lives in me) and to fill it up with Gods thoughts from His Word.
Having this in mind, I have started to meet with the men from the church every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 9 am, to read the Bible and pray. It is a blessed time. The relations are built up and our minds and hearts transformed by the Word.
Continue to pray for us and for our ministries in Romania, and for our house. By Gods willing we would love to add the roof and the windows to it this Spring. We are out of money, but we trust the Lord that He is the one at work and He will finish what has started. Adam is planning to come with a team in Spring to do a VBS for the kids and to bring a team of workers to help us with our projects. I have asked them to pray for my house as well, but we will see where the Lord leads them.
In 2 weeks I will be in Lugoj for an evangelistic event. Pastor Jacob invited a very talented violin player to visit them which is a very good friend of mine, and asked me to preach. I am so excited to get to see him. Please pray for these days, from 15th – 17th of February.
Hope this email finds you safe and sound and on fire for the Lord. Please fill free to shear prayer request with us, so we may know how to pray for you as well. God bless!!

Dear friend,

Praise God for the honor and privilege we have to serve such a Great and Awesome God and Father. He is the one that fills our heart with abundant joy, overwhelming peace and everlasting love, because He is the Almighty King and Lord.

It was a great summer, full of surprises and accomplishments, full of hard work and weight loss ( if you want to lose some weight, join us next summer in camps and the projects that God will have for us J), full of excitement and grace. Over 250 kids and teens heard the Gospel this summer in our camps and Bible Clubs, praise God for the decisions they’ve made to follow our Savior Jesus Christ and to serve Him. God is the only one that knows their hearts and their future, that is why we need to pray for them, so join us in praying for the kids that heard the Gospel this summer. Praise God for the teams that came from the Us and helped us, they did a great job. May the Lord bless them richly and transform their lives to be more like Jesus every day. If you want to come and serve with us here in Romania, feel free to talk to us and we will find a way or a project that you can be a part of and serve.

Thank you so much for praying for us in the process of building our home. God has been so good to us. In one of my previous emails, I was shearing the need of 60.000$ to be able to build and do the insides to our house. Praise God, He provided 20.000$ by now, moving the hearts of individuals and churches to give and help us. If you are asking me, I never thought I will live the day to see our house being built. I am telling you is an overwhelming feeling, but in the same time comes with a lot of stress. My hair turned grey since I have started and I have lost over 15 lbs. More that my body, my faith has been put to test, depending on God for every penny, not knowing what comes next, except the due dates of the materials that I had to pay, it is very hard. Thank you for praying for me, every prayer counted. One thing that I have learned about faith is that: “My
faith will only be as strong its knowledge of the person / object of the faith”. I need to know all of His promises and trust them, more then to search for miracles and wonders expecting them to happen to me one day!! My faith will get stronger as i will get closer to him, knowing him in person and not just works that He did while Jesus was on Earth. Even though it is hard most of the time, i choose to trust Him every step at the time in the building process and in every day life. Continue to pray for us please!!

Next step / need we face right now is building the upper floor and the roof. The budget for this to happen is another 10.000$,  and we need this before winter comes. In the same time we are praying for a team of carpenters that can come and help us with the roof, or with the insides of the house once the house is built. Please, continue to pray for this matter.

Our family is doing good, praise the Lord! We  are very excited to meet the baby brother, soon ,very soon, tomorrow morning at 7 am the doctor is waiting for us at the hospital and by God’s grace we will meet our new baby boy Aaron by 12 pm. Please pray for a safe delivery and for a healthy baby and for Ana to recover easily and with no complications. We would also like to ask you to keep us in your prayers in this home school year. We have a 1st grader, second grader and a new born, the house and ministry. We really have our hands full, but everything is easy when we have Jesus by our side. It is best to trust His plan for us  than to create a better future for us but without Him in it.

WE do love and pray for you. God brought you in our lives for times like these, and we are so thankful for your generosity and love. May the Lord bless you richly and keep you in His mighty hands.

With great love in Christ, Florin, Ana, Abel, Andrei, Alex, Flavia and baby Aaron!!!

Dear friend,

We praise God everyday for the opportunity and the Grace we have to work serving the Lord here in Romania. It is exciting, encouraging and a life changing experience every day, watching God at work in my kids, family, congregation, ministries and in those that are to Christ for help and are discovering the true LIFE. These days we are Celebrating Easter, remembering one more time the Sacrifice that Jesus did for us, giving His life for us so we may live HIS life on Earth. I was thinking of this last night, while I was adding my nail to an wooden cross, showing that my sins nailed Jesus on the Cross. In those moments I thought “how can I honor Jesus’s life more on this Earth?”  And this thought came to my mind, “You can honor Me by continuing the Life that I have started on Earth among your fellow human beings”!!! How easy is to understand this but how hard is to apply it!!! But this is how a transformed and a Saved life needs to be!!  For this I need your help in prayer because the life got tougher for us. The news of the 5th child coming got us by surprise and made us re-think all our plans. We were so excited by the end of the year when the building authorization for our house and all the permits were ready, and we could start building our home, because it got harder to live with 4 kids in 2 rooms, and do homeschooling with 2 of them while the other 2 are distracting them. God provided the money for the foundation, and by Gods willing we will start after the Easter holiday. We had in mind to visit US in the fall and raise some money for the house, but that cannot happen anymore because Ana’s do date is somewhere in September. Talking to Gerald about the construction, he mentioned that with 60.000$ we can finish the house inside an outside. That is a lot of money, I am not sure if I can count that much. So we have decided to trust in the Lord as we always did, and take one step at a time. This is a very hard thing to do, especially when your wife is pregnant and her emotions are all over the place. I really need a lot of help in prayer, for wisdom and guidance, because I want to stay faithful to my calling and in the same time I need to take care of my family. I am struggling for a while with the thought of taking a job, working the night shift, because starting with this year we will have both of our oldest sons in school, and the tuition is 1600$ per year for both. Our monthly support and all our income Is between 850 – 1100$ per month and it will be very hard for us to pay the tuition and do ministry and provide for our needs. This is the other issue that burdens my heart from the beginning of this year, and I need help in prayer as well.

We praise God for He is good and kept all our children healthy over the winter, and provided for all our needs. All our trust is in Him, but as humans our faith can get weaker because of the circumstances and the needs that we face. That is why I am asking for your help, so our faith remains strong and our feet will not stop in shearing the Gospel to the people around us.

Christ is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!!!!

God bless you!!!

Romanian Ministries Update

Tuesday, August 29th, 2017

Dear Friends at the Philippian Fellowship,

Thank you so much for your faithfulness in helping us to spread the gospel here in Romania.  Thanks for your prayers and support in June and July.  I would love to see you guys in September, I will be in the northeast for a few days bringing Corina to WOLBI in NY.

The Lord has given us many opportunities for ministry this spring and summer.  What a joy to have all our children home for the summer and ministering alongside of us.  At the beginning of the summer, our oldest son Michael asked Alina to be his wife, (she said yes).  We are excited about the opportunities the Lord has placed before them, using their medical and sports professions to give forth the message of the gospel here in Romania.

We hosted many different groups that came to assist with the new church construction in Valea Argovei, and leading weeks of camp and VBS in four different ministry locations.  In the spring Kristin purchased a new tablecloth, white with black outlined flowers.  I suggested that we should have all our guests sign their name and color a flower or leaf.  You see the result of 78 overnight guests in the beautiful artwork they designed on the attached picture.

Camp Eli was again a blessing to many, we hosted 880 folks this summer with different groups, and took nearly 300 of our own children, teens, leaders to camps as well.  We are thankful for the opportunity to host these children who are truly thankful for the opportunity to spend a week in a wonderful setting among God’s people who love them.  A special thanks to the different teams that gave of their time and resources to come and help us lead these weeks of camp.

We have just begun a new believers class at church with people who have decided to follow the Lord in believer’s baptism.  Many of them are youth from within our church who were challenged this summer with their need to publicly proclaim their faith in the Lord.  Pray with us for this group of 14 who have just begun.

We are so thankful for the Godly heritage of those who have gone before us.  My godly grandma Fannie went home to be with the Lord August 11 at the age of 97. She faithfully served the Lord (taught second grade SS class for 60 years) and was looking forward to going to be with Him.  Thanks for all your encouraging words during this time.  It is difficult to be far from family during times like this.

We love you and are thankful for your investment in our lives and the ministry here in Romania.

Hello Dear friend,

God is Great and worthy to be praised and served, but you know that already. I am amazed every day by His presence in our lives. He really is a loving and protecting Father, and He really gives all what our hearts desire. Last Saturday, on my way home, I was listening to some songs in the car, that really blessed my soul. While singing the songs, I thought that it would have been nice if we can sing them in the church next day … I just thought … keep that in mind. The next day, before the sermon, our worship leader sang these specific songs, just before I had to preach … soo .. I could not stop it, and I start crying … God really made my day. I just thought and He made it happen … What a Great God we serve. To read more of God’s work in Romania, please take a look in the attachment (link to PDF below).
