Gyuri & Aniko Varga – Erd, Hungary

Dear Friends,

We are living in unusual times. None of us thought we would live in strong restrictions for months. We have to reevaluate our purposes, priorities, duties. We have to do our work, studying, ministry, family life, relationships in a different way.

In all of these we are thankful that we have food to eat, a house to live in, we are healthy, we still can carry out our calling and so far, we have not suffered financially, which is not true for some of our friends already.

We are thankful that Gyuri can study on his masters. He finished the first semester with very nice grades and some valuable appreciation from two of his professors. This semester is harder without classes. He himself has to study from books for his exams. It is a great joy to see him apply most of the things already in his sermons and personal counselling.

This new situation blew away Aniko’s main project, the national women’s conference in May. Everything was set up, we found a very nice place (university hall), had a very good teacher. And now it is gone. Now she is working on putting ministry ideas on internet for ministry leaders and pastor’s wives and updating database for future women’s coordinator while building relationships on the phone.

Our son Áron planned a youth camp in August for several churches’ youth group which he had to cancel. His other project – conference for 18-25 years olds in February 2021 is going slow due to not being able to meet people personally and finding like-minded ones.

Abigél has online English classes and all other teachers give so much work that she studies 7-8 hours a day. We are proud of her motivation and endurance, we try to help in her effectiveness. We are glad her digesting system has no problem since she is home. She enjoys being home but misses fun time in school.

We are thankful that we have a lot of fun being together more as a family, watching movies, playing games, sharing in ministry responsibilities. Gyuri’s video filming takes place in our living room. Áron and Abigél set the stage, lights, Bible verses on TV, filming with moving phone (on longboard on our dining table). Áron prepares the video film for the internet. You can check it out on YouTube: Centrál Budapest. It has been available for a week and more people watched it than we expected. We pray that when we can open our doors again many interested people would come and visit our church personally too.

We are thankful for your support and prayers in these strange times. We wish you a joyful EASTER celebration in the midst of restrictions. We pray the Lord’s protection and special provision for all of you in your everyday needs.

HAPPY EASTER!

Much love from Gyuri, Anikó, Áron and Abigél

Ps. Nátán and Afroditi still goes to work in Budapest. Samuel is working on his Thesis and exams in Maine and is hoping to begin work in June and getting married in September.
