Karen & Ruben Popet – Beraca Orphanage in Jdioara, Romania

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.   James 1:27

June 2018

June 1, Children’s Day, is a big holiday here. Everyone is very happy to be free from school. Many cities have special programs planned just for the children. We took all of our younger children to Timisoara to celebrate the day. The children’s park was transformed with big inflatable slides, food booths, etc. It was all free. The children loved going down the big slide. Afterwards, we took a free boat ride on the river running alongside the park. Some young people had water games for everyone. We had ice cream, too. Afterwards, we went to the mall. We all enjoyed pizza in the food court. Then, the children played in the play area for a couple of hours. It was a full day but the everyone had a great time. They certainly had more energy than we did.

School is finally over. We had some disappointments but some successes, too. Cosmin and Andrada got all FB’s (like A’s) on their report card. Cosmin has done this for the past three years. We are very proud of him. He enjoys school. He is self-motivated which is wonderful. Bianca passed her English test to be able to go to a high school that emphasizes English. She had the best grade in her class. We are proud and excited for her, too.

The weather has turned very hot, just in time to do hay. Everyone gets involved and takes turns doing it. Our group from America also comes this weekend. It will be our only team this summer. We have lots of fun things planned to do with them, including camp again this year with the children from Pesac. We are looking forward to their time here, especially the fellowship with them.

We hope everyone has a wonderful summer. Also, we want to say Happy Father’s Day to all of the fathers. We pray you have a special day. Thank you for remembering us in your prayers and giving. They encourage us and keep us going for Jesus.

With our love,

Ruben, Karen and Bianca
