Karen & Ruben Popet – Beraca Orphanage in Jdioara, Romania

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.   James 1:27

September 2016

Our trip back to Romania was smooth and uneventful. It was great to see the children and teenagers again. Some of them had gotten a lot taller over the summer. Everyone had enjoyed their summer. Tomorrow school will start. All 20 children will be going. We have children in kindergarten through twelfth grade. They are in six different schools and ten different grades. It takes a lot of organization to keep everything running smoothly. One of the teams who were here this summer blessed everyone with a new backpack and new school supplies. They even brought enough for the children in Pesac. We will go to visit them this week.

There were two weddings in our church this summer. Two of the men who were baptized also got married. Now the couples are in a discipleship program. Our church continues to grow with new believers. There are new faces there most Sundays.

The American family that was here helping us has returned to the USA. They plan on returning sometime during the first part of 2017. We have hired a new worker to help Ramona in the afternoons. Her name is Mirela. Today is Tabita, Ruben’s niece who helped us on the weekends, last day. She has opened her own fitness center. We will miss her. Please pray for us as we look for someone to replace her.

We wanted to share an example of how God always provides for our needs. This spring, a church had given us money to give wood to all of the widows in the village that we help. So, we went to a nearby town and ordered it. The company delivered it for us. The widows were very blessed. The day after we got back from America, the same company brought for the orphanage a load of wood free. You never know how God works on people’s hearts.

Our last Sunday was special for us. Karen’s father had the privilege to baptize Bianca, his last grandchild to be baptized. We are thankful that our two daughters have a heart for the Lord. They want to serve Him in their lives. We are excited to see what God has in store for them. Please pray with us for the children and teenagers at the orphanage that they will get a passion for Jesus, too. Cipi Giura is doing great. He is a wonderful example of how to live for Jesus.

Thank you for all of your prayers and financial gifts. Your investment in our children is a big blessing for us. We are praying for great results this year.

With our love,

Ruben, Karen and Bianca
